About this book

A retrospective collection of iconic Northwest Coast art, curated from half a century of works by master Indigenous artist Roy Henry Vickers. This collection includes eighty artworks spanning 1974 to 2024--over fifty years in Vickers' career as an artist. Rendered in his signature bold lines and vivid colors, these paintings showcase the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest that have made Vickers a household name. Vickers' books, artworks, sculptures and prints are world-renowned for representing vibrant visions of the northern West Coast. His storied artistic career began when he was rejected from the RCMP for his colorblindness, and brought him through such milestones as building the Roy Henry Vickers Gallery in Tofino, British Columbia and being the artistic director for the construction of part of the Vancouver International Airport. This career-spanning collection showcases the essentials from Vickers' portfolio, bringing the gallery into every home. With a foreword by the artist, Roy Henry Vickers Collected is a milestone celebration of a traditional storyteller and a tribute to a lifetime of artistry--a visual treat for anyone who feels a connection to the beauty and spirit of the Pacific Northwest.
